Ventcrest
Cinder Clinic · Kilnward
Ventcrest are lean cave fenborn with a vascular crest that opens to dump heat rapidly after crossing hot ground.
What it is
Ventcrest are lean cave fenborn with a vascular crest that opens to dump heat rapidly after crossing hot ground. Sensitive throat membranes detect changes in airflow and gas concentration before most people can smell them.
What Keepers notice
Miners historically watched resting Ventcrest for sudden crest-flaring or evacuation behavior as an early warning of changing vent gases. Captive animals lose much of this reliability because artificial airflow alters their normal responses.
How this species enters Keeper life
Gas-event rescue, mine evacuation recovery, clinic conditioning, and later vent-system attunement.
This is a species dossier. Individual fenborn keep their own care state, provenance, temperament, history, and Keeper relationship.
