Rootmaw
Warden's Rest · Lumaweald
Rootmaw are heavy detritivorous fenborn with shovel-like lower tusks and enormous forelimbs.
What it is
Rootmaw are heavy detritivorous fenborn with shovel-like lower tusks and enormous forelimbs. They tear apart rotten logs for grubs and mineral-rich fungi, swallowing large quantities of decayed wood and soil.
What Keepers notice
Rootmaw feeding sites accelerate decomposition and leave soft seedbeds in places otherwise sealed by woody debris. They are frequently blamed for tree damage actually caused by storms or logging machinery.
How this species enters Keeper life
Human-conflict relocation, injury rehabilitation, forestry-response rescue, and later large-territory stewardship.
This is a species dossier. Individual fenborn keep their own care state, provenance, temperament, history, and Keeper relationship.
