Why you know them

Tamsin Rook never needed a second public name. Mirecross shortened it for her. Rook runs the Wayhouse route desk with a freight-worker’s sense of time: departure, weather, load, consequence.

A dispatcher before a host

Rook grew up on a family freight skiff and still listens to the pilings when weather turns. She writes departure times in grease pencil, dislikes decorative paperwork, and can explain a three-leg crossing in fewer words than most people use to apologize for being late.

Rules and exceptions

She refuses bribes as a matter of personal pride but has rerouted medicine ahead of authorization when a clinic could not afford to wait. Her usual defense is that the paperwork eventually arrived where it was supposed to.

Current thread

Closures that do not exist

Someone has been filing route closures bearing valid marks from crews that deny making them. Rook has started pinning the suspicious notices beneath her desk instead of discarding them.
