Mirecross’s public sanctuary for first bonds, voluntary surrender, rehabilitation, placement, and care instruction.
First Reed occupies a low cluster of old civic buildings near the Mirecross causeway. The entrance opens into intake rather than placement, and creatures under active rehabilitation are kept beyond the recovery corridors rather than displayed to prospective Keepers.
Mandate
First Reed receives surrendered and rescued creatures, supervises first bonds, arranges placements, and provides public instruction in ordinary care. Its staff can refuse a placement when housing, health, or behavior makes the proposed bond unsafe.
On the floor
Recovery rooms are deliberately plain and differently damped for sound. Doors carry handwritten notes more often than polished plaques. Staff move carriers through side corridors so intake crowds do not become part of an animal’s first hour in the building.
Public desk
Reed, Registry name Senna Vale, oversees the sanctuary floor and most difficult placements. Regular visitors recognize the brass room keys on her coat and the faded route scarf she still wears from her years on flood corridors.
