Why it exists

First Reed Sanctuary is where many Keepers first encounter the basin’s care system. It handles first bonds and placements, accepts surrendered creatures, supports rehabilitation, and teaches the practical responsibilities that continue after a creature leaves its rooms.

What First Reed handles

The sanctuary manages first bonds, surrendered creatures, rehabilitation, and public education. Its work connects placement to ongoing care rather than treating adoption as a one-time transaction.

A creature keeps its history

Placement does not erase a creature’s earlier life. First Reed works within the Accord provenance system, so rescue, surrender, rehabilitation, and later custody remain part of the same continuing record.

Pressure point

On the sanctuary floor

Reed, the sanctuary steward, is the recurring public face of the building. She is known for practical care, direct instructions, and remembering the environmental details that make different recovery rooms safer for different species.
