Fenstilt are tall wading fenborn with spring-loaded legs, narrow probing beaks, and independently flexing toes that spread their weight across unstable mud. They are highly visual and communicate with abrupt wing and neck displays.
What Keepers notice
Fenstilt feeding pits collect rainwater and concentrate invertebrates for smaller marsh species. Their nesting colonies are sensitive to drone traffic and repeated boat disturbance, even when the birds do not immediately flee.
