Species profile

What it is

Basaltusk are huge tunnel-dwelling fenborn with continuously growing mineralized tusks. They use the tusks to pry fractured basalt apart, enlarging passages to reach mineral deposits and cool sleeping chambers.

Field observation

What Keepers notice

Basaltusk excavation opens migration routes later used by many smaller cave species. Quarry crews sometimes destroy a tunnel as a nuisance only to discover it had been the sole cool passage connecting two vent systems.

Keeper & placement note

How this species enters Keeper life

Quarry-conflict relocation, tunnel-collapse rescue, Cinder Clinic treatment, and later cavern stewardship.

This is a species dossier. Individual fenborn keep their own care state, provenance, temperament, history, and Keeper relationship.
